Welcome to the second episode of season two of Inspired Proficiency hosted by Ashley Uyaguari!  Inspired Proficiency is podcast that explores the world of language teachers, and the tricks, tips, games, resources and inspiration they recommend using in your classroom as the new teaching year starts up.  In this episode Ashley is joined by fellow Spanish teacher, Dorie Conlon Perugini, to talk about how minimalism can be beneficial to:

  • Focusing on the essentials
  • Reducing clutter, inside and outside the classroom
  • Embracing a mindset that spotlights your passions, not your material items
  • Being present and focused on your students while in class
  • Being intentional with grading and lesson planning

Ashley and Dorie focus on how leveraging minimalism in the classroom has made drastic changes to their teaching habits.  From their wardrobe and teaching tools to lesson planning and organizing, reducing clutter has made it easier for both them and their students to focus on what is essential.

Be sure to Tweet your own experiences with minimalism and how you use it in the classroom to Ashely at @profeashley, and be sure to use the hashtag #InspiredProficiency.  To reach Dorie, you can find her on Twitter @DorieCP or with the hashtag #Teach4IC
